Hiring is tiring.

So you're scanning through an infinite scroll of resumes and portfolios.

You need an up-and-coming design professional to join your team who can contribute immediately but be eager to learn, and who will offer a fresh perspective but recognize that user empathy ultimately matters most. I can help.

Feel free to skip directly to my work or download my resume. Otherwise, keep scrolling to learn more about me and my process when I work directly with clients.

If you think I might be a good fit, contact me today for a free consultation (voice, video or in-person in the Portland, Oregon area) and we'll figure it out.

Here's a list of tools I currently have experience with. If there's something else you'd like to see there, I can implement it.

Need a website?

You've got questions.

Where do I even start? How can I stand out when all of those templates look the same? What the heck do I write here? Why can't I make the changes I want to make without messing everything up? Where can I find photos that don't look so generic? What about a logo? Why doesn't this work? Why is this so hard?

I hear you. I've been there, and I wanted those questions answered so badly that I actually reshaped my career path to figure it out. After a great deal of effort, I learned that nobody has all the answers.

However, I also learned a good approach to finding answers, and I can now put what I've learned to work for you, saving you time and energy. We might even keep your computer from having an "accident."

Whether you're just getting started or you're looking for a refresh, I'll help you with everything you need to create a website that both you and your audience will love, so you can get back to focusing on what you do best.

Work

For a deep dive into how I work, select one of the case studies below.

Process

My goal is to deliver a functional, responsive, stylish, distinctive and effective website that reflects and enhances your brand and appeals to your audience.

If you only need specific pieces, give me the details and I'll be happy to help. Here's my seven-step approach:

Define/Refine

I absolutely love learning about what people do, so let's talk! What are our objectives? Which problems are we trying to solve? What does your target market want, and why should they choose you? If you already have a website/digital identity, what could be improved?

Research

It's time for a deep dive. Who is your ideal client, and what are their pain points? We'll create user personas that help us to stay focused on what matters most: your clients. What do your competitors' websites look like, and how you can stand out? Which design trends might be a good fit for your brand?

Plan

Next, we'll use that research to make a plan. What should the structure of your site be? What do we include? What do we emphasize? How should your site make viewers feel? What assets do we need? How will we use text, photos, colors, graphics, animations to connect with the viewer?

Create

Designing without content is like buying an outfit for someone you've never met. You can do it, but it might not fit well. If you've already got the content you need, great! If not, I can help. Thanks to steps 1-3, I understand what you do, so I can write copy and create/find images that can not only reflect but elevate your brand and impress your audience.

Design

Here I'll take everything we've learned and start bringing your new site to life with sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes. We'll test to make sure we're always moving in the right direction. By the end of this stage, you'll have a pretty good idea of how your site is going to look and feel.

Implement

During this stage, all of the design and content gets converted into code and becomes a live website. Note that designing and implementing can overlap or even happen concurrently, depending on the platform we use. After a soft launch to tweak any issues that pop up, it's time to go fully live.

Evaluate

The site is live, but we're not done yet. We still need to do more analysis. Did we accomplish our goals? Most importantly, is the new site solving your user's problems?  If not, we go back and repeat earlier steps. If yes, congratulations! You've got yourself a new digital identity!

About

Empathy is key.

Thanks to an innate curiosity and a love of learning, I've explored many different fields in my life. As a designer, I use that experience helps me step into the shoes of others and see things from their perspective.

By the way, one of my website case studies will soon be featured on DesignRush's Best Website Designs.

I'm a photographer and a teacher. I've been a voiceover and TV actor, a salesperson, a media manager, and more. These roles have several things in common: communication, creativity, adaptability, and empathy.

Along the way, I've continuously adapted to changing environments, learned new skills, identified with the needs of others, and crafted innovative messages in various mediums that connect with them and help them solve their problems.

Having invested a lot of time and energy studying web design, I can now put all of my experience and perspective to work for you.

So let’s chat!  I’d love to learn all about what you do, and how I can help you transform your first-time site visitors into your fans!
